“The Exchange Student”

Bio: Jersey/Philly native, Concepts aka Lawrence Lockett Jr, has been a devoted hip-hop lyricist, producer, motivational speaker and urban missionary since the age of eighteen. His lyrical strokes paint meditative portraits of life’s bumpy roads and in-your-face reality. The name “Concepts” derives from an idea or thinking pattern, which coincides with a heaven’s mentality. He creates songs about everyday life through the lens of a believer. With a hard-hitting yet soulful style that has become his trademark, he flips the script with something innovative that the music industry can adapt to.

Concepts released his debut album ‘All Things’ in November of 2007 which gave him a launch to share the stage with the greats such as The Roots, Talib Kweli, Kim Burrell, Donnie McClurkin, Tye Tribbett, Trip Lee and Da’ TRUTH amongst many others. He followed up the album with releasing a compilation mixtape in 2011 called ‘Flip It Friday’ which he flipped the concept of his favorite songs and made them cover songs with all his Philly artist friends.

After an extensive break from music, which saw Concepts marrying and building a foundation for his family, he is ecstatic to reintroduce himself to the world! On Valentine’s Day weekend 2018, he released his single “Chemistry” & on his birthday, July 13th, he released his summer time single “Life of the Party” which are both out currently on all digital platforms. On October 19th 2018, he released his long awaited sophomore album, “The Exchange Student!”
